SEO Traffic Tip - Forum Commenting

The quest for website owners looking for backlinks to improve their search engine ranking continues with forum commenting. There are a number of discussion forums around the web and it is important to find forums that are:

1. Relevant to the theme of your website.

2. DoFollow - you can check this when you are in the forum by right clicking on 'view source'. Once that screen appears, hit Ctrl+F and search for nofollow. If no matches are found you are on a DoFollow forum.

Most forums will allow you to set up a profile that includes a link to your website or blog but most importantly, you should create a signature that includes a link to the website you want backlinks for. Once that's done, all you need to do is contribute to the forum on a regular basis and engage in the discussion without trying to promote your site - the link to your site will be in the signature attached to each post.

Forums tend to have a long shelf-life and will give you the chance to build up permanent backlinks, often from high PageRank pages.

  4. Good tip about putting the URL in your forum signature! People tend to forget and just put the link in their forum messages.
